Wayne E. Seelinger opened the first insurance agency in northern New Jersey devoted exclusively to insuring New Jersey’s churches and clergy.

Seelinger began his career in the insurance business in 1965 as a fire loss and bodily injury/property damage adjustor in San Diego, California working for the Royal Globe Insurance Group.

While investigating and settling some insurance claims, he discovered that insurance coverages which meet the needs of churches were inadequate or did not exist.

Transferred to New Jersey, Seelinger continued to develop expertise as an adjustor where his responsibilities extended into workers’ compensation and fatal bodily injury investigation and claims settlement.

In 1975, Seelinger entered the Richards & Summers, Inc. Insurance Agency in Denville, New Jersey as an insurance agent. He promptly set up a Church Insurance Department under the expert guidance of William D. Richards, one of New Jersey’s most knowledgeable and well respected insurance professionals.

Striking out on his own in 1979, he became an independent Church Insurance Specialist. Working with a few sympathetic insurance companies, he helped develop coverages that meet the distinctive insurance needs of churches.

He was a pioneer in providing counseling mal-practice insurance coverages for New Jersey’s clergy as well as Directors’ and Officers liability coverages for church trustees.

He does church building, property and stained glass appraisals and provides safety materials for church members, staff, buildings, properties and vehicles.

He serves as a consultant to several denominations and gives seminars on church safety, insurance cost reduction, and effective church building maintenance.

He has assisted hundreds of clergy and their families in their personal financial planning.

Seelinger is called upon by fellow insurance agents for suggestions on how to best insure their church clients.

He has also visited and studied hundreds of churches throughout the world.

Seelinger holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, New Jersey and a Master’s Degree from William Paterson University, Wayne, New Jersey.

He served the South Orange, New Jersey Rescue Squad as crew chief and vice president.

He was a firefighter in the Newark, New Jersey Fire Department assigned to Hook & Ladder Co. No. 5 (at the time, one of the busiest fire truck companies in the world).

Since 1974, he has served the Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Fire Department in several volunteer capacities: firefighter, Fire Commissioner, community relations officer, and director of recruitment.
